ive been involved in two or three major genres that are very different from each other, says vaughn robert squire from canada, better known as prison garde, who is making his true romance debut with our trep009. about his melody ep, he says: its gospel-influenced house stuff. its in line with the last couple records that i put out, but i feel like its a little more mature and that the quality of the recording is a lot higher than anything else ive done as prison garde. i recorded it at the phi centre in montreal - its a beautiful cultural center in the old port. ango and i locked ourselves in there and did a live record on an ssl in a big room.

bc & co. started out as a small group of friends who surfed and skateboarded together. as they hung out in venice and shared their interests and ideas about music, sounds started to take shape. what started off with no intentions of being anything serious began to develop, inspiring music composer alberto bof, music advisor paul t. and music coordinator alex olson to think about avenues of release. inspired by a seigen ono record put out for comme des garcons in 1988 olson got the idea to release the trio s project under his brand bianca chandon. this limited 12 inch has embodied the spirit of the creators and the motivation of the brand to become bianca s first record release.

when i was 10 years old my father took me to a flea market in a very small city up north in sweden, pitea. there was a little bit of everything being sold there: ski equipment, comics, porcelain figurines and vinyl. it was there and then i came across autobahn by kraftwerk. the thing is, we didn t have a turntable at the house we stayed in, on those cold winter weeks so i had to wait until we came back home to give the record a proper spin. in my mind i played it several times and i thought it was amazing. i imagined it was music from the future. what i thought when i heard it for real? didn t like it at all. the very same feeling i imagined autobahn would sound like is the one i get after listening to ishi vu s debut on omena. these five tracks, you could call it an album if you like, are playful, quirky, dreamy and very addictive. like finding a new friend you know you want to keep for a very long time.

this newly inspired project has also been launched as a partnership with hometown friends - nitin and former art department band-mate kenny glasgow in support of an issue very close to their hearts - animal cruelty. white has recently begun work on maac (music against animal cruelty), a charity project started with long time friend and pulse radio founder wade cawood. the charity will serve as a fundraising initiative with plans to galvanize the support of the electronic music industry and to help raise money and awareness to protect african wildlife facing the threat of diminishing population or extinction. social experiment will serve as a non profit record label with 100% of proceeds donated to maac.
